I know your vocal range on the terraces is better than Celine Dion’s, and that is why you’re the perfect person to ask about football songs. Do you think Football Song T-Shirts would be a good idea? I’ve done four (below), but I was wondering if you wanted any others.

If you’ve got a favourite song that you like to sing on a Saturday afternoon when your team are 3-0 up, then let me know in the comments below.

If you could keep it clean, and in the general ballpark of decency as dictated by the laws of society, that would also be good 😁

Just a few lyrics, not the whole song, if that’s okay.

Thanks,

Ian

Hi. The song Blue Day by Suggs is a Chelsea song and starts with :

The only place to be, every other Saturday Is strolling down the Fulham Road. Meet your mates, have a drink, have a moan and start to think . . .

The other (maybe more obvious Chelsea song is ‘Blue is the Colour’ with lyrics of ‘Blue is the colour, football is the game’ ‘we’re all together and winning is our aim’ ‘so cheers us on through the sun and rain’

    Just a few thoughts!

    Cheers

    Graham

Tottenham Hotspur fans love to sing along to “Can’t Smile Without You” by Barry Manilow:

You know I can’t smile without you
    I can’t smile without you
    I can’t laugh and I can’t sing
I’m finding it hard to do anything
You see, I feel sad when you’re sad
I feel glad when you’re glad
If you only knew what I’m going through
I just can’t smile without you

Don’t know how many Norwich fans you have around here, but I’d buy On The Ball City – apparently the oldest football song.

Kick it off, throw in, have a little scrimmage,
Keep it low, a splendid rush, bravo, win or die,
    On the ball, City!
    Never mind the danger,
    Steady on, now’s your chance,
    Hurrah! We’ve scored a goal.

Guess you could reduce it to the “On The Ball City and Never Mind the Danger” lines, but surely words like scrimmage, bravo and Hurrah should feature!

Sunderland supporters song “Can help falling in Love ” by Elvis Presley .
    Wise men say
    Only fools rush in
But I can’t help falling in love with you
    Shall I stay?
    Would it be a sin
If I can’t help falling in love with you?

    Oh Leeds United,
    I’m so delighted,
I chose you as my football team,
    We’ve had some good years,
    Shed a few tears,
But you’ll always be in my dreams.

We won 9 in a row and I’m still dreaming,
of Brian Laudrup and Trevor Steven,
    Marvin Andrews said “Keep Believing”,
    Davie Cooper’s on the wing,
We remember Gazza with great affection, The day the helicopter changed direction, Jimmy Baxter he was pure perfection,
    Super Ally scores again…

So let me tell you that I love you,
And I think about you all the time,
Ibrox Stadium is calling me and now I’m going home,
To think of life without the Rangers,
You know that it would make me more than sad,
Glasgow Rangers is everything l’ve ever had

    There is only ONE
    You’ll never walk alone.

When you walk through a storm
    Hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
    There’s a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
    Walk on through the wind
    Walk on through the rain
    And You’ll Never Walk Alone
    YoullNever Walk Alone.

The Wonder of You by Elvis Presley for Port Vale (paraphrased)

When no-one else can understand me
When everything I do is wrong
You give me hope and consolation
You give me strength to carry on

I guess you’ll never know the reason why
I love you as I do
    That’s the wonder
    The wonder of you
